Food Drive for The Hunger Stop

What could be better than an afternoon spent with friends, new and old, chatting under sunny skies? That’s exactly what we did at our food drive for The Hunger Stop, Lanark County Food Bank, on Saturday, June 11th. Stalwart Brewing Co. was the perfect location for the event and served up pints to all those who donated. 

After the devastating storm ripped through eastern Ontario on May 21, many people in our area were left without power for days and had to throw out hundreds of dollars worth of food. It became even more important to support those for whom food insecurity is a daily struggle. With the support and generosity of our amazing community we were able to donate $300 and 319 lbs of food!

We were honoured to have Carleton Place’s own up and coming star, Amber Humby, sing for the afternoon. Our friends Makenna and Raven entertained the children with face-painting, fast becoming experts at transforming the little ones into Pikachu! And we somehow managed to rip through five dozen delicious donuts from Maverick’s. 

Due to its success, we may just make this an annual event. See you next year!
